With the growth of wakeboarding in the state, and with many of our members achieving excellent results in high level competition, it leaves you wondering –“What will the next generation achieve?”. For many of our young members, their journey to success is well on it’s way.
With older members such as Nathan Vagg, Stuart Ford and Andrew Tonks competing at a national level, and with the excellent job that TASWAKE are doing with their state level competitions and grommet training days, our younger members have some excellent mentors.
One of our young members who progressing at a rapid rate is 14 year old, Jairus Lesek. A self taught & persistent rider, he first rode a wakeboard in 2008. He learnt many basic skill in his first two seasons on a board way to big for him and behind the family’s old runabout (with no wake).
Jairus began competing in local competitions the last two seasons at New Norfolk, Trevallyn, & Meadowbank, and managed to take out first place in the boys wakeboarding grom division in 2013.
In recent times Jairus has had some valuable input from members to assist in his riding and enjoyed the grommie training day held last season by Taswake. Taswake will be holding more grommie training days in 2014. Anybody interested in further information about these days should contact Taswake for details
